Weekly Workouts (6/9-6/15)

My goals this summer is to really get back into running and build a base so I can start training for races again. Ever since teaching spin 4x+/week running has been put on the back burner and I would run here and there. I miss it. My pace has definitely took a hit from such a long period of time off, but I’ll get it back. Also, weight training doesn’t happen each week so I’m trying to incorporate it at least 1-2x/week.

Sunday 6/9:

Taught 1 hour spin class
2.80 mile run with my friend Katelin

Monday 6/10:

Taught 45-min spin class
1.22 mile run in the rain

We were planning on going for a longer run, but the weather was not cooperating, so we just did a quick fun run in the rain. I was soaked!

Tuesday 6/11:

30 minute Nike Training Club app workout
2 (ish) miles walk with Adrian’s dog Rex
3.07 mile run with Adrian and our friend James


2 min straight leg kicks
2 min light jog
1 min back pedal
1 min recover
1 min squats with weights
2 min crazy ivans with weights
2 min plank row with weights
1 min toe touches with weights
1 min ski jumps with weights
30 sec split jumps
2 min light jog
2 min deadlifts with weights
30 sec bicycle crunches
2 min alternating lunges
2 min lateral hop jumps
1 min froggers
1 min toe touch crunches with weights
2 min hamstring stretch
1 min lower back stretch
2 min pretzel stretch

Adrian and James are much stronger and faster runners than me, but they were nice enough to go at my turtle pace. There were 2 hills right at the end of the run, which at one point I was ready to give up, but they helped me finish to the end.

Wednesday 6/12:

1.12 mile jog with Charlie

My legs were sore from the NTC workout from the day before, but I really wanted to try out my new sneakers! So I took my dog Charlie for a light jog with me around the neighborhood.

Thursday 6/13:

1 mile treadmill run
10 min arm workout 
1 mile treadmill run

It was pouring out, so I didn’t want to run outside or even go outside to my car to drive to the gym, so I did a little at home workout. I wanted to log in a couple more miles for the week but wasn’t feeling it after my first mile so I split it up with a little arm workout I found on YouTube, then got back on the treadmill for another mile.

Friday 6/14:

Taught 45 minute spin class

Also, on Friday Adrian and I went horseback riding.. Not so much exercise for us, but it was for the horses. We had a lot of fun. Adrian’s horse kept on stopping to eat during the entire ride. haha!

This week’s wrap-up:
I am very happy with this week. My body was definitely sore from after the weight training days (probably since I’ve been slacking/not doing it lately). I am really happy I ran 6 days this week, even if some were just a mile.

  1. Very nice! I have a similar goal for this summer, try to get into running for the FIRST time actually. I started with 30 minute runs, now I’m up to 1.5 hours. I have no idea how many miles I’m running….but….it’s SLOWWWW.
    I think it’s pretty cool that you teach spinning! I’d love to do that one day.
